I have a website done using Drupal 7.8 version and it is deployed on Dreamhost. I have tested this extensively on local test-environment and have done good amount of optimization. Have used tools like Yahoo YSlow, Google-Speed Analyzer to take care of all performance and other aspects. However, when we put this site on dreamhost, the site becomes very slow. One observation I have done is - when user opens the site thru browser-address-bar, the reverse (anticlockwise) spinning of browser-tabbing-icon is for quite long as compared to any other site. Once this anti-clockwise spinning stops, the page loads quite quickly. On the face of it, it looks like browser is trying to connect to the site. Dreamhost clarified that there are no issues with DNS etc.
Any idea on what might be the issue?
